About Car Insurance Made Easy

An honest editorial mission, written by the person who runs the site.

Hi, I'm Sam.

I'm not an insurance agent. I'm not a broker. I'm not an "expert" who's been in the industry for 20 years. I'm just a regular driver who got tired of feeling like every car insurance policy was written specifically to confuse me.

If you've ever read a quote and thought "what does any of this actually mean," you and I are the same person.

Why this site exists

Insurance language is broken on purpose.

"Bodily injury liability." "Uninsured motorist property damage." "Stacking." "Subrogation." "Comprehensive deductible." These aren't words anyone uses outside of a policy document, and yet you're expected to pick numbers next to them that determine whether you're protected or financially wiped out after an accident.

Most people handle this one of two ways:

  1. Call the first insurance company they see on TV and accept whatever the agent recommends
  2. Use a comparison site, pick the cheapest option, and hope for the best

Both ways usually mean overpaying or being underinsured. Sometimes both.

The reason I started this site is simple. I went through the process myself. I asked a hundred questions. I looked things up. I made mistakes. I paid more than I should have for years. Eventually I figured out which questions actually matter and which "features" are just marketing.

Everything I learned the hard way gets written down here so you don't have to learn it the hard way too.

What I try to do differently

When I write about a topic, I aim for three things:

If an article doesn't pass those three tests, it doesn't get published.

How this site makes money

Honest disclosure: when you click a "compare quotes" link and submit your information, the comparison service pays me a small commission. This costs you nothing and doesn't affect your rate or which company you end up with.

That's the entire business model. No paid placements. No "preferred carriers." No fake five-star ratings on companies that pay more.

If I recommend comparing quotes, it's because comparing is genuinely the best way to avoid overpaying. If I tell you a specific coverage isn't worth it, it's because I believe it isn't, not because dropping it makes me more money.
